New default Linux distribution for the desktop

I’ve been a fan of Ubuntu since 2006. I’ve mainly used it as an server OS, but in periods it has also served as main desktop OS. With Ubuntu 11.10 something happened, Canonical decided to change from GNOME to Unity as the default desktop system. I HATE Unity, it’s the worst piece of crap ever created. (I could go on…)

The new desktop distro of choice is Linux Mint. Basically Ubuntu but with some minor tweaks and GNOME as the default dekstop environment. Suddenly I feel at home again! If you don’t like Unity, try Linux Mint. You can of course change the desktop environment on Ubuntu, but why go through the hassle when you could get GNOME as default?
